Christophe Gauvin-Girard

Christophe is another Ostrya athlete from La Prairie. Initially unimpressed with climbing, an outing with friends ended up being the catalyst that hooked him to the sport. Like so many others, he fell in love with pushing his limits and achieving climbs that are initially out of reach. A social young man, Christophe especially likes getting outside and climbing with his friends.

Growing up next to Canyon Escalade was a contributing factor to his growth and success as an athlete. The gym, minutes from his house, introduced him to the climbing community and it was fellow climbers that helped him learn how to train and brought him on his first outdoor excursions. He spent his high school years climbing at Canyon almost everyday and the gym is packed with memories for him. Aside from his home gym, he’s spent a bunch of time exploring the Laurentides and its seemingly endless supply of great boulders.

Currently in CEGEP, Christophe wants to become an elementary school teacher. While he completes his studies he has several side projects. Most notable is his upcoming trip to Squamish. His plans include driving up, staying for almost a month, and covering as much rock as humanly possible.

One thing is for sure when it comes to Christophe, he knows what he wants. We’re excited to support him along his journey throughout Canadian climbing.

Christophe Gauvin-Girard
